Asante Kotoko recorded their first victory of the campaign after defeating Heart of Lions 2-1 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. The three points move the Porcupine Warriors to four points from their opening two matches.
Kotoko had begun the season with a draw, but Sunday’s victory gives them a positive early platform. They now occupy fourth place, with four points and a positive goal difference of +1.
Heart of Lions, meanwhile, remain without a victory after two matches. Their tally stands at just one point, leaving them 14th in the table with one goal scored and two conceded.
The victory keeps Kotoko within touching distance of the early leaders. With only two points separating them from Hearts of Oak and Samartex, the Kumasi giants remain firmly in the early title conversation, while Lions must quickly find a winning formula.
