Guinea have announced a 25-man squad for their opening two matches of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, with Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy included in coach Paulo Duarte’s selection.
The Syli National will begin their qualifying campaign against South Africa before returning home to face Kenya in the second fixture.
Guinea are scheduled to take on Bafana Bafana at Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
Duarte’s side will then host Kenya on October 1 at the 28 September Stadium in Conakry, after the venue recently received approval from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to stage international matches.
Guirassy leads Guinea attack
Much of the attention will be on Guirassy, who has made an impressive start to the new season with Dortmund.
According to Transfermarkt, the Guinea international has recorded four goals and two assists in five matches, making him one of the key attacking players expected to lead Guinea’s challenge in the qualifiers.
His form will be particularly important as Guinea look to make a strong start against two competitive opponents in South Africa and Kenya.
Guinea will be hoping their attacking firepower, led by Guirassy, can help them collect maximum points from their first two 2027 AFCON qualifying matches.
