Ghanaian sprinter Joseph Paul Amoah safely booked his place in the semi-finals of the men’s 100m at the African Senior Athletics Championships after finishing second in his heat at the University of Ghana Stadium.
Amoah delivered a controlled performance behind Cameroon’s Emmanuel Eseme, doing enough to comfortably secure qualification to the next stage as the home fans rallied behind him in Accra.
The experienced Ghanaian sprinter looked composed throughout the race, managing his pace well while keeping his focus firmly on progression rather than chasing an early statement performance.
Speaking after the race, Amoah stressed that his approach to the championship is to take the competition “heat by heat” as he targets a place in the final and potentially a medal for Ghana.
With the semi-finals now in sight, Amoah remains one of Ghana’s strongest hopes in the sprint events as the championships continue at the University of Ghana Stadium.
