Joseph Paul Amoah Targets Relay Medal for Ghana at Accra 2026

Joseph Paul Amoah has pledged that Ghana’s men’s 4x100m relay team will battle for a podium finish at the ongoing Accra 2026 African Senior Athletics Championships despite frustrations in the individual sprint events.

The Ghanaian sprinter admitted disappointment after narrowly missing out on medals in the individual races but insisted the team remains fully focused on delivering success in the relay event.

“I’m disappointed but I’m sure in the coming days we’re going to fix stuff,” Amoah said. We’re going to miss Ben-Azamati but we’re hoping to let whatever team that we put together be a good one.”

The absence of fellow sprint star Benjamin Azamati is expected to be a setback for the Ghanaian side, but Amoah remains confident the team can still compete strongly against Africa’s top sprint nations.

“We will assure Ghanaians that we will get to the finals and make sure that we get a medal,” he added.

Ghana’s relay team will now shift attention to the 4x100m event as the hosts aim to secure a memorable result in front of the home supporters at Accra 2026.
