KASAMA STADIUM: FAZ President Visits Facility

FAZ President Keith Mweemba has said Kasama Stadium still requires more work despite some noticeable progress on the facility.

Mweemba visited the stadium on Thursday while in Kasama for the FAZ Northern Province AGM. He was accompanied by FAZ Northern Province Chairperson Chikonde Mbalazi, Acting FAZ General Secretary Iva Lengwe and FAZ Registrar Aziph Banda.

The delegation inspected the turf, goalposts and general areas. Speaking after the tour, Mweemba said some improvements were visible but more work remains to be done to bring the stadium up to standard.

He noted the ongoing efforts by the FAZ regional office in trying to restore the facility.

“The chairperson has just told me that they spread some seed and you can see it has germinated. There’s still a lot of work to be done of course. No doubt about that.” Mweemba said.

Mweemba, who was visiting the facility for the first time, also noted unused space around the stadium as an opportunity for future expansion.

“It’s a first time I have come here and was checking. There’s a lot of space behind there. There will be a lot of development here; let’s see how works progress going forward.”

He said with government support and FIFA involvement, works should be expedited so that the stadium can start serving the community effectively.
