Liberia staged a spirited second-half comeback to earn a 2-2 draw against Libya in an entertaining international friendly that delivered drama from start to finish.
Libya looked in control heading into the break after striking twice in quick succession late in the first half. Midfielder Mohamed Al-Musrati opened the scoring in the 44th minute with a composed finish, before Eslam Faraj doubled the advantage in first-half stoppage time, giving the North Africans a commanding 2-0 lead.
However, Liberia emerged from the interval with renewed intensity and purpose. Their persistence paid off in the 76th minute when Oscar Dorley pulled one back, finishing off a well-worked move to spark hopes of a comeback.
The momentum firmly shifted in Liberia’s favor, and they found their equalizer just six minutes later. Prince Balde rose to the occasion in the 82nd minute, calmly slotting home to level the score at 2-2 and cap a remarkable turnaround.
The match also saw a moment of discipline as Libya’s Ahmed Shafshouf was shown a red card in the 51st minute, further tilting the balance toward the West Africans.
Despite late pressure from both sides in the closing minutes, neither team could find a winner, as the match ended all square after 90 minutes.
