Bryan Mbeumo put the exclamation mark on Manchester United’s explosive 5–2 comeback victory over Ipswich Town, scoring a delicate 82nd-minute chip to complete a dominant second-half display.
Ipswich Town initially stunned the Stretford End when Leif Davis lashed home a magnificent half-volley in the 29th minute to give the visitors a lead. However, United hit back before the break through captain Bruno Fernandes. Fernandes went on to dictate the match, completing a brilliant hat-trick alongside a Jacob Greaves own goal to put United comfortably ahead.
Yet, it was Mbeumo’s late moment of flair that truly brought the crowd to its feet.
In the 82nd minute, after having already missed a direct chance via a hit post early in the second half, Mbeumo timing his run perfectly behind the Ipswich backline.
Collecting a lofted pass, the Cameroonian forward showed supreme composure under pressure. As the Ipswich goalkeeper rushed off his line to close down the space, Mbeumo instinctually cushioned a deft, weighted chip over the sprawling goalkeeper. The ball floated gracefully through the air before dipping beneath the crossbar into the net, putting United 5–1 up and putting the result far beyond doubt.
A late stoppage-time consolation from Ipswich’s Chuba Akpom slightly narrowed the deficit to 5–2, but it did nothing to dampen the atmosphere as Mbeumo and his teammates celebrated a statement home victory.
