Ministry of Sports Declines to Fund Pape Thiaw’s Contract Termination Compensation

Senegal’s Ministry of Sports has reportedly refused to finance any compensation linked to the termination of head coach Pape Thiaw’s contract, leaving the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) to shoulder the full financial responsibility linked to the dismissal of the manager.

According to reports, the Sports Minister has formally informed the FSF that the government will not cover the costs associated with ending Thiaw’s tenure. Instead, the federation has been told that it must independently fund any compensation package.

The decision places significant financial pressure on the FSF, which must now weigh the cost of terminating Thiaw’s contract against its future plans for the national team.

The development comes amid growing uncertainty after Thiaw’s termination.

Neither the Ministry of Sports nor the FSF has publicly disclosed the financial details of the coach’s contract or the potential compensation that would be required if his deal is terminated.
