NWFL Super Six: Nasarawa Amazons, Rivers Angels Shine as Opening Day Delivers Thrills in Port Harcourt

The 2026 NWFL Super Six playoffs got off to an exciting start at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, with Nasarawa Amazons and Rivers Angels both recording important victories, while Bayelsa Queens and Abia Angels shared the spoils in a tightly contested draw.

Nasarawa Amazons Edge Edo Queens

In one of the standout fixtures of the opening day, Nasarawa Amazons secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Edo Queens.

The decisive moment came in the 61st minute when Adaobi Okah found the breakthrough, calmly finishing to hand her side all three points in a closely contested encounter.

Edo Queens pushed for an equaliser but were ultimately denied by a disciplined Nasarawa defence that held firm until the final whistle.

Rivers Angels Survive FC Robo Queens Scare in Five-Goal Thriller

Rivers Angels began their Super Six campaign with a dramatic 3-2 win over FC Robo Queens in what was arguably the most entertaining match of the day.

Grace Saliu opened the scoring early in the 8th minute, but FC Robo Queens responded through Oluwakemi Adegbuyi in the 22nd minute to level the contest.

The second half saw Rivers Angels regain control as Abasiofon Uwah restored the lead in the 65th minute before Ramotalahi Kareem extended it just two minutes later in the 67th minute.

FC Robo Queens refused to back down, with Adegbuyi grabbing her second goal in the 80th minute, but it was not enough to deny Rivers Angels a crucial opening-day win.

Bayelsa Queens and Abia Angels Share Points
The final match of the day ended in a 1-1 draw between Bayelsa Queens and Abia Angels in a balanced encounter.

Abia Angels struck first through Harmony Chidi in the 56th minute, but their lead was short-lived as Mariam Abdulrasheed restored parity just two minutes later in the 58th minute, ensuring both sides walked away with a point apiece.

Focus Shifts to Matchday 2

With Matchday 1 concluded, attention now turns to Matchday 2 scheduled for Monday, where teams will look to build momentum or recover from opening-day setbacks as the race for Super Six glory intensifies.
