President Lijane Nthunya Extends Heartfelt Gratitude to LeFA Stakeholders

The Lesotho Football Association President, Mr Lijane Nthunya, has extended his heartfelt gratitude to all football stakeholders in and outside the country for rallying behind the Senior National team, Likuena, during its two-legged TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Preliminary Round Qualifiers against Seychelles, both played at Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein.

Likuena players gave a spirited performance, coming from a goal down on Sunday to win the tie 2-1, courtesy of goals from Lebohang Lesako and Motebang Sera.

The LeFA President lauded all Association stakeholders, including the Government of Lesotho, through the Minister of Tourism, Sports, Arts and Culture, Honourable Motlatsi Maqelepo, who graced Sunday’s game, and all government officials, LeFA structures, corporate partners, media partners in Lesotho and South Africa, as well as all football supporters who rallied behind the team in the two games.

The Ministry of Tourism, Sports, Arts and Culture, together with LeFA, put together a M300,000 incentive for Likuena to secure a spot in the group stage qualifiers for the 2027 edition of the continental showpiece to be staged in East Africa.

“We’re grateful to all stakeholders who made time to travel to Bloemfontein to support the team in its two crucial matches, where it secured qualification into the group stage.

“We thank the Ministry for the incentive, encouraging the players to double their effort. Likuena belongs to Basotho – we call on corporate partners to help make securing qualification into the main tournament a reality.
