Copper Queens defender Rachael Nachula says fans have an opportunity to watch the Copper Queens on home soil during the Four Nations tournament before the team heads to the WAFCON.
In an interview with the FAZ Media Team in Ndola, Nachula said the Four Nations tournament was a good test for the Copper Queens as they intensify WAFCON preps. “It feels good to be back in the Copper Queens squad. And it feels good to be in a group like this, as a team and as a family,” she says.
“This tournament is very important to us and as we are preparing for the WAFCON. This tournament is going to help us to prepare very well and to know and gauge ourselves where we are.”
“We are very happy to play Kenya because they are also part of the WAFCON we are going to test ourselves and to know where we are as a team. And we are very happy that they chose Kenya.”
Nachula has rallied fans to turn up enmasse, “I would like to invite all the people in Zambia, in the Copperbelt province and everywhere in Zambia to come and support us. You know how we play as Copper Queens; we don’t disappoint. Come in numbers to support us and we will meet on Saturday.”
The Copper Queens will face Kenya on Saturday at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium at 15h00 while Zimbabwe will take on Lesotho in a lunch time kickoff. Winners of the two matches will square off on Tuesday in the final at 18h00 while the losers will contest a third and fourth play-off at 15h00.
Zambia and Kenya are looking to fine tune ahead of the WAFCON while Zimbabwe and Lesotho are building for their forthcoming assignments. The WAFCON will take place from July 25-August 16 in Morocco with Zambia being in Group C alongside Nigeria, Egypt and Malawi.
