With the game delicately poised, Rangers found the decisive breakthrough in the 84th minute, when Daniel Itodo scored to put the champions ahead.

The late strike proved to be the difference as Rangers held on through the closing stages to claim a 2-1 victory over Nasarawa United.

Nasarawa United fought hard after restoring parity in the encounter, but Rangers’ late attacking pressure eventually paid off.

The match was initially halted on Thursday because of persistent heavy rainfall at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.

At the time of the suspension, Rangers International and Nasarawa United were level at 1-1, with play unable to continue safely.

Following the resumption on Friday morning, both sides battled for the winning goal, and it was Rangers who eventually prevailed through Itodo’s 84th-minute strike.

Rangers maintain momentum

The victory will be particularly significant for Rangers as the champions continue their defence of the NPFL title.

For Nasarawa United, the narrow defeat means they leave Owerri without a point despite pushing the champions until the closing stages.
