The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has officially submitted a proposal to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) requesting an increase in the number of participating clubs in both the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup.
The proposal is aimed at expanding representation in Africa’s premier inter-club competitions, with the EFA seeking greater opportunities for clubs across the continent to compete on the continental stage.
According to reports, the request has been formally presented to CAF and is expected to be discussed during a meeting of the continental governing body in the coming days.
Should the proposal receive approval, it could mark a significant shift in the structure of CAF’s club competitions, potentially allowing more teams from member associations to participate and increasing the competitiveness of both tournaments.
CAF is yet to make an official statement on the proposal, but the outcome of the upcoming discussions could have a major impact on the future format of African club football.
