Tottenham Hotspur have made Senegal international Pape Matar Sarr available for transfer, with Galatasaray emerging as the midfielder’s likely destination.
The 23 year old has reportedly been informed that he is on the transfer list as Tottenham look to reshape their squad before the transfer window closes. Galatasaray have already shown concrete interest in Sarr and have reportedly submitted an opening bid of €18 million for the midfielder.
Sarr’s future at Tottenham has become increasingly uncertain following a busy summer in midfield. The arrivals of Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Conor Gallagher have increased competition for places, leaving the Senegalese midfielder facing a reduced role under head coach Roberto De Zerbi.
Galatasaray are understood to view Sarr as an important target as they seek to add energy, physicality and defensive intensity to their midfield. Reports suggest the Turkish champions have also reached an agreement on personal terms with the player, although a final agreement between the two clubs is yet to be reached.
Tottenham are believed to be seeking a fee closer to €25 million, meaning negotiations could continue before a deal is finalised. The London club’s willingness to sell reflects their desire to reduce the size of their squad after significant investment during the summer transfer window.
Sarr joined Tottenham from French club Metz in 2021 and has since established himself as an important member of the squad. He has also become a regular for Senegal and was part of the team that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2022.
A move to Galatasaray would give Sarr the opportunity to take on a more prominent role and potentially revive his career after a period of uncertainty in north London.
