Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsi has described Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen as one of the best forwards in world football, warning his teammates to remain focused when they face the prolific attacker.
Cubarsi acknowledged Osimhen’s quality ahead of their anticipated encounter, recalling that he had played against the Nigerian international a few seasons ago.
The young Spanish defender said he would approach the challenge with the same seriousness, stressing that Barcelona must be fully alert to contain the striker’s threat.
“I played against him a few seasons ago, as I said before. I take it the same way: seriously.
He is one of the best strikers in the world, and we will have to be very focused,” Cubarsi said.
Osimhen has established himself as one of Europe’s most feared forwards, earning recognition for his pace, physical strength, aerial ability and clinical finishing.
The Nigerian striker’s attacking qualities make him a difficult opponent for defenders, particularly when he finds space inside the penalty area.
Cubarsi’s comments underline the respect Osimhen commands among his opponents and the defensive challenge Barcelona could face against the Super Eagles star.
With Osimhen’s goalscoring instincts and ability to trouble defenders, Barcelona will need concentration and defensive discipline to limit his influence whenever the two players meet.
