Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC have parted ways with head coach Denis Lavagne by mutual consent, ending the Frenchman’s reign after 11 competitive matches in charge.
The decision, announced on Saturday, October 24, follows Friday night’s goalless draw against Police at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, which further exposed the gap between the Venoms’ performances and results.
“Vipers Sports Club informs its stakeholders and general public that it has by mutual consent ended its contractual relationship with Mr Denis Lavagne (Head Coach) effective October 24th, 2026,” the club said in a statement. The Venoms thanked Lavagne for his services and wished him well in his future career.
Lavagne’s departure comes amid a difficult start to the season for the defending champions, who have won just once at their Kitende home ground. They currently sit sixth on 11 points after three wins, two draws and a defeat from six matches.
The Venoms trail leaders BUL by just six points but have a game in hand on them. Although the performances in the draws against Maroons and Police offered encouragement, the failure to turn that promise into victories left Lavagne’s position increasingly difficult to defend.
For a club with Vipers’ ambitions, home form and dropped points have carried consequences, and Friday’s stalemate proved the final straw. The club now faces the task of finding a successor capable of translating improved performances into the consistent results expected of the Venoms as the season progresses.
