The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed experienced Rwandan referee Aline Umotoni to officiate Wednesday’s crucial Group C encounter between Egypt and Nigeria at the 2026 TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Rabat, Morocco.
The highly anticipated fixture is pivotal for the Super Falcons, who are chasing a place in the quarter-finals after recovering from an opening defeat to Malawi with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Zambia.
Nigeria must secure a positive result against the North Africans to strengthen their chances of progressing from the group.
CAF confirmed that Umotoni will lead an experienced officiating team for the contest. She will be assisted by fellow Rwandan Alice Umutesi as Assistant Referee One, while Ngarassoum Victorine of Chad will serve as Assistant Referee Two.
Kenya’s Josphine Wanjiku has been named Fourth Official, with compatriot Elizabeth Njoroge serving as the Reserve Assistant Referee.
In the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) room, Peter Waweru of Kenya will oversee reviews, assisted by renowned Rwandan official Salima Mukansanga as Assistant VAR.
Umotoni is regarded as one of Africa’s top female referees and has handled several high-profile CAF and FIFA competitions.
Her appointment underscores CAF’s confidence in her ability to oversee one of the decisive matches of the WAFCON group stage.
