WAFCON 2026: Hotel employee arrested after Nigeria theft

The theft case involving the Nigerian women’s national team during the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations is taking a legal turn in Casablanca.

An employee of the Marriott hotel was arrested and taken into custody by Moroccan authorities.

He is suspected of stealing money from the rooms of several Nigerian players during their stay.

​At the time of his arrest, law enforcement seized 10,000 dirhams. According to preliminary findings, this amount is believed to be the money stolen from the athletes, which had been converted into local currency.​

The suspect is currently in custody while the investigation continues.

The investigation, conducted under the supervision of the relevant prosecutor’s office, aims to shed light on the exact circumstances of this theft within the Super Falcons camp.
