Ivory Coast produced a dominant first-half display to take a commanding 3-0 lead over Burkina Faso at the break.
The Elephants quickly took control of the match, opening the scoring in the 7th minute on a penalty kick converted by Rebecca Elloh.
Playing with great flair on offense, they then extended their lead thanks to a brace by Ines Konan in the 14th and 23rd minutes.
Despite Ivory Coast’s clear dominance, the match took a different turn late in the first half with the ejection of Mariam Diakite in the 38th minute.
Down to ten players, the Ivorians will have to protect their lead for the final 45 minutes, while Burkina Faso will try to capitalize on its numerical advantage to get back into the game.
At halftime, Ivory Coast is in an excellent position to kick off its 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a convincing victory.
