Ghana U-20 winger Benjamin Tsivanyo has struck a tone of resilience and determination following the Black Satellites’ opening defeat to Nigeria at the ongoing WAFU Zone B U-20 Championship in Côte d’Ivoire.
The young forward admitted the result was not part of the team’s expectations but stressed that the focus has already shifted to recovery and improvement ahead of their decisive second group match.
“We didn’t plan to lose the match against Nigeria but unfortunately it has happened already. It is part of the game. It is how we handle that defeat that matters going forward,” Tsivanyo said.
Ghana suffered a setback in their opening fixture, but Tsivanyo believes the loss has revealed important lessons for the squad as they prepare to face Burkina Faso.
“Our heads are up, we are not going to give up because we know you can’t win all matches. The defeat tells us that we have more room for improvement,” he added.
With qualification hopes hanging in the balance, the winger emphasized the importance of securing all three points in the upcoming encounter.
“We know the Burkinabè are really strong. But we’re fully prepared. We have absolutely no choice but to win this game because we need the points.”
The Black Satellites will now look to respond with urgency as they seek to keep their campaign alive.
