Ghana Sports Minister Kofi Adams has admitted the country is still in preparation mode ahead of the FIFA World Cup, revealing that the Black Stars are not yet fully ready for the tournament, largely due to the absence of a confirmed head coach.
Speaking candidly, Adams stressed that while readiness is not complete, there is confidence within the camp that progress will be made before Ghana’s opening group match against Panama. “I will say that we are preparing. If I tell you that we are ready…we don’t even have a head coach. So it means that we are not fully ready yet,” he stated.
Despite the concerns, the Sports Minister struck an optimistic tone, insisting Ghana still possesses enough quality to compete strongly on the global stage. He believes the team can build momentum in time for the tournament and potentially deliver a deep run.
“This is a World Cup that I see us doing well in. We should be hopeful… Maybe possibly even win the World Cup,” Adams added, while acknowledging that the current squad may lack the long-term cohesion of previous generations.
