World Cup 2026 : France vs Senegal classified as high risk

Scientists from the World Weather Attribution (WWA) have raised concerns about the extreme weather conditions expected during World Cup 2026 in North America.

In a report published this Thursday, researchers warned that 26 of the tournament’s 104 matches could take place under dangerous heat conditions due to the impact of climate change. Several fixtures played in open-air stadiums already appear particularly worrying.

Among the matches classified as “high risk” is the clash between France and Senegal scheduled for June 16 in East Rutherford. The encounter will take place at 3 p.m. local time, when temperatures could approach 38 degrees Celsius in dry conditions or exceed 30 degrees in humid weather.

Concerns continue to grow around player safety and physical performance as teams prepare for another major tournament expected to unfold under extreme summer heat.
