Zambia: Chakatazya Pledges Teamwork and Professionalism

Newly appointed Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) General Secretary Charles Chakatazya has pledged to strengthen professionalism, teamwork and good governance at Football House.

Speaking when he met staff at Football House in Lusaka on Tuesday, Chakatazya who thanked the FAZ executive committee for entrusting him with the role, promised to work closely with staff and stakeholders to advance the game.

He also paid tribute to Deputy General Secretary Iva Lengwe for steering the secretariat during the transition period and described his contribution as important in ensuring continuity of operations.

Chakatazya said every employee has a vital role to play in the success of FAZ regardless of their position.

“My approach is simple. I believe in teamwork, professionalism, respect, accountability and open communication. I want us to work together as one team with a shared purpose and common goals,” Chakatazya said.

The new General Secretary said his immediate priority would be to ensure efficient operations, strengthen governance structures and improve service delivery to members, clubs, players, coaches, referees, sponsors and other stakeholders.

“As we move forward, there will be challenges, but there will also be many opportunities. If we work together, support one another and remain committed to excellence, I am confident that we can achieve great things for Zambian football,” he said.

And speaking on behalf of staff, Anne Namukanga, welcomed Chakatazya to Football House as she described his appointment as the beginning of a new chapter in the administration and development of football in Zambia.

“We have every confidence that your experience, vision and leadership will guide us toward greater achievements and continued growth for Zambian football,” Namukanga said.

She assured the new General Secretary of the workforce’s full support, loyalty and cooperation, saying staff are committed to working professionally and upholding the values of teamwork, accountability and excellence in pursuit of FAZ’s objectives.
