The Confederation of African Football has named Moroccan Jalal Jayed to officiate the match between Senegal and Nigeria, a team that has won the Africa U20 Cup of Nations seven times, on Sunday at the Cairo International Stadium.
In the match, which will begin at 7 p.m. Egypt time (6 p.m. Nigeria time), three hours after the tournament’s opening match between hosts Egypt and Mozambique at the same venue, Jayed will be assisted by Tunisian Mohamed Bakir (assistant referee 1), Algerian Hamza Bouzit (assistant referee 2), and Ivorian Clement Franklin Kpan.
Tunisian Hussein Jenayah will act as the match commissioner, Burundian Jean Claude Birumushahu as the referee assessor, and Moroccan Imade El Fahouss as the general coordinator.

In preparation for their match against Senegal, the Flying Eagles held their first official training session in Cairo on Friday at the training facility of the Jewel Hotel.
At the finals in Egypt, Nigeria, which has won a bronze medal and two silver medals at the FIFA World Cup, will be vying for their eighth continental championship. Other Group A matchups feature Mozambique and the host nation Egypt.
To represent Africa at this year’s FIFA U20 World Cup finals in Indonesia, May 20–June 11, only the top four teams from the 12-nation competition will be eligible.
On Friday, Coach Ladan Bosso and his technical staff oversaw the Flying Eagles’ practice. the players’ recuperation following the flight from Casablanca to Cairo.
Another meeting is scheduled for Saturday at 8:30 p.m. local time (7:30pm Nigerian time).
Ahmed Abdullahi, who resides in Belgium, has joined the Flying Eagles team in Cairo in the early hours of Friday morning.
Abdullahi was a member of the team that won the WAFU B U20 Championship in May of 2017 in the Niger Republic.
The skillful forward is expected to give Coach Ladan Bosso more options up front after he suffered a head injury during a match with Burkina Faso, which forced him out of the regional tournament despite him scoring one goal.
