Very frustrated after Senegal’s defeat against Ivory Coast in the round of 16 of AFCON 2023, Krépin Diatta openly showed his anger by attacking an official from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in the mixed zone.

“You killed us, you are corrupt. Keep your African Cup,” he told this official and other members of Caf. These words were widely shared on social networks.

By behaving in this way, Krépin Diatta perhaps risks heavy sanctions. According to information from Sport News Africa, Caf has taken up the matter and intends to analyze the video sequences showing Diatta making these remarks and cross-reference them with testimonies from members of its staff present at the time of the facts.

For the institution, it is important to know who the Senegalese international was addressing. The latter is undoubtedly exposed to sanctions if it turns out that the accusations target members of the CAF.
