Olympique de Marseille has signed an agreement in principle with Roberto De Zerbi to become coach, the Ligue 1 club said on Monday.
De Zerbi, an Italian, left Brighton & Hove Albion at the end of last season after a remarkable two-year term that featured their greatest Premier League finish of sixth and first-ever qualification for European participation.

De Zerbi, 45, will succeed Jean-Louis Gasset at Marseille, who retired after signing a short-term contract after Gennaro Gattuso left in February.
Marseille, which placed seventh last season, said the agreement would be concluded in the following days.
