Young Africans’ attacking midfielder Stephanie Aziz Ki was named the Tanzania Premier League’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) after receiving the best player award on Thursday night.
The award was presented to him by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports, Mr Grayson Msigwa, alongside several other officials.
At the well-attended and colourful awards gala held in Masaki, Dar es Salaam, the Burkina Faso national also won the Best Midfielder award and the Golden Boot, having netted 21 goals in the 2023/24 season.
However, the versatile midfielder named the best player of CRDB Federation Cup. Additionally, Aziz Ki was named the Best Midfielder of the CRDB Federation Cup.
The list, dominated by Young Africans players, also saw Ibrahim Hamad ‘Bacca’ winning the NBC Premier League’s Best Defender award. Coastal Union’s goalkeeper Ley Matampi secured the Golden Gloves award, with Djigui Diara (Yanga) and Ayoub Lakred (Simba) as close contenders.
A goal by Azam FC striker Kipre Junior was declared the Best Goal of the season, while the relegated Mtibwa Sugar was named the Best Disciplined Team of the season.
In the Tanzania Women’s League, Simba Queens’ Aisha Mnunka claimed the Golden Boot after scoring 20 goals. Aisha Masaka, who recently joined Barclays Women’s Super League (WSL) side Brighton & Hove Albion, and Mbwana Samatta were named the Best Female and Male Players playing abroad, respectively.
Mzize claimed the CRDB Federation Cup’s Golden Boot award. Young Africans head coach Miguel Gamondi was named the NBC Premier League’s Best Coach.
