Ghana Asante Kotoko SC Ushers in New Era with Major Technical Restructuring

In a bold and strategic move to realign its technical direction, Asante Kotoko SC has announced a sweeping restructuring of its technical leadership, signaling a renewed focus on long-term success and competitive excellence.

In an official statement released earlier today, the Porcupine Warriors confirmed the appointment of Abdul Karim Zito as the club’s new Technical Director. The experienced tactician, who once donned the red shirt as both player and head coach, returns to Kumasi with a rich resume. His achievements include leading Dreams FC to the CAF Confederation Cup semi-finals, and most notably, guiding Ghana’s U-20 team to the 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations title.

In addition to his new role, Coach Zito will serve as Acting Head Coach on an interim basis, steering the first team while the club searches for a permanent head coach.

Supporting Zito in the dugout will be Prince Yaw Owusu, who takes up the role of Assistant Coach. With over two decades of experience spanning Ghana, Sudan, and the United States, Coach Owusu brings a wealth of tactical knowledge and a strong track record in player development. His coaching journey includes notable stints with Medeama SC, Inter Allies, Khartoum National Club, and Ghana’s U-20 and U-17 national teams. He has been instrumental in the growth of several players now shining in Serie A for clubs like AC Milan, Genoa, Sassuolo, and Fiorentina.

In a complementary move, Malik Jabir, a respected figure in Kotoko’s history, transitions from his previous role as Technical Director to become the club’s Technical Advisor. In this strategic position, Jabir will offer oversight and guidance to ensure the club’s footballing philosophy aligns with its long-term ambitions.

These appointments mark a new chapter for Asante Kotoko SC, as the club strengthens its technical framework to build a more competitive and visionary setup both on and off the pitch.

“These appointments are part of Asante Kotoko’s renewed commitment to building a strong, visionary technical structure aimed at sustained competitive success,” the club stated.
