Asante Kotoko are in advanced negotiations with Abdul Karim Zito to become the club’s new head coach following the dismissal of Prosper Narteh Ogum just a day ago. According to reliable sources Zito—currently with Dreams FC—has received the green light from his current club to finalize a two-year contract with the Porcupine Warriors.
Zito, who was recently named Ghana Premier League Coach of the Month, has seen his stock rise sharply after guiding Dreams FC to some impressive performances this season. Known for his tactical discipline, calm demeanor, and strong player development track record, his imminent appointment is already generating buzz among the Kotoko faithful.
The move comes after Kotoko management parted ways with Prosper Narteh Ogum, citing poor performance as the primary reason for the decision. The club’s leadership, led by Communications Director Sarfo Duku, was clear in holding the technical team accountable for the team’s underwhelming run, despite being given full control over player recruitment.
Zito’s expected appointment marks a fresh chapter for Kotoko, as they look to steady their campaign and reignite their push for league success. With experience at both youth and senior levels, including a U-20 AFCON title with Ghana in 2021, Zito is seen as a coach who can both deliver results and groom the next generation of stars.
