FIFA has unveiled its Best XI from the first round of matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and African football has earned significant recognition.
Two players from Cape Verde secured places in the prestigious lineup after their impressive performances helped their nation make a strong start to the tournament. Goalkeeper Vozinha and central defender Diney represented Africa in the team of the round.
Vozinha impressed with several crucial saves and played a key role in Cape Verde’s defensive solidity. Diney also delivered a commanding performance at the back, earning praise for his leadership and composure. Their inclusion highlights the growing impact of African nations at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and rewards Cape Verde’s excellent start to the competition.
