2026 FIFA WORLD CUP: Bellingham Rescues England Before the Break After Norway Strike First in Entertaining First Half

England and Norway went into the halftime interval level at 1-1 after an action-packed opening 45 minutes in their crucial encounter, with both sides battling for a place in the next stage.

Before kickoff, players, officials and supporters observed a minute of silence in memory of South African international Jayden Adams, whose passing cast a somber mood over the occasion.

Once the match got underway, both teams showed attacking intent, creating openings as they searched for the breakthrough. England and Norway traded possession and pressed high, but neither side could find the finishing touch during an evenly contested opening half-hour.

Norway eventually broke the deadlock in the 36th minute through Andreas Schjelderup. The winger cut inside before whipping a superb effort into the far corner beyond England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, giving the Norwegians a deserved 1-0 advantage.

The Scandinavian side almost doubled their lead moments before the interval when Alexander Sørloth burst clear on goal. However, England’s defence recovered brilliantly to intercept his final touch, preventing what looked destined to be Norway’s second goal.

England responded in dramatic fashion deep into first-half stoppage time. In the first minute of additional time, Jude Bellingham produced the equaliser, finishing calmly to restore parity and send the teams into the dressing rooms with the score locked at 1-1.

With the tie finely balanced, both England and Norway have everything to play for in what promises to be an exciting second half.
