Spain’s preparations for Sunday’s FIFA World Cup final against Argentina suffered a setback after severe thunderstorms forced the cancellation of the team’s final outdoor training session.
FIFA announced on Saturday that the session at the Melanie Lane Training Ground in New Jersey was called off in line with the United States’ storm safety regulations.
The governing body also confirmed that no alternative training session had been scheduled for the Spanish team.

In a statement, the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) said the players remained active by completing their warm-up exercises indoors after the outdoor session was suspended.
FIFA did not confirm whether Argentina’s training session, scheduled for 11:30 a.m. local time (3:30 p.m. GMT), would proceed as planned.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Spain and Argentina is scheduled to kick off at 3:00 p.m. local time (7:00 p.m. GMT) on Sunday.
