Tanzania has taken a significant step towards modernising its domestic football after introducing Football Video Support (FVS) technology in the country’s Premier League.
The development makes Tanzania the first African country to implement FVS in its domestic league, marking a major milestone in the use of technology to support match officials and improve decision-making.
FVS is designed to assist referees with reviewing key incidents and making more accurate decisions during matches. The technology has already contributed to improved officiating, helping officials reassess certain calls and reach better-informed decisions.
The introduction of FVS is expected to strengthen the credibility of officiating in Tanzanian football while providing an important technological foundation for the continued development of the league.
Tanzania’s move represents a significant step forward for African football as more competitions explore technological solutions to improve the quality and fairness of officiating.
