Arsenal have reportedly made a major move to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, submitting a €90 million bid to Galatasaray for the Super Eagles forward.
According to renowned football journalist David Ornstein, Arsenal have internally approved and submitted the offer as the Premier League champions look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season.
Ornstein reports that Osimhen is keen on a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal emerging as a serious destination for the 27-year-old striker.
“Arsenal have internally submitted a €90m bid for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, the player is keen on joining the Premier League champions,” Ornstein was quoted as saying.
The report adds that Galatasaray are currently considering Arsenal’s proposal, while negotiations between the two clubs are said to be progressing positively.
Osimhen has become one of the most sought-after strikers in European football following his impressive goalscoring record and his performances for both club and country.
His physical strength, pace, movement and ability to operate effectively inside the penalty area have made him an attractive target for several top European clubs.
Arsenal’s interest could represent a significant development in the transfer market, particularly with the club looking to maintain its competitiveness at the highest level.
The addition of a proven goalscorer such as Osimhen would provide another major attacking option and potentially add greater firepower to Mikel Arteta’s squad.
For Galatasaray, however, the decision will be a significant one.
Osimhen has established himself as an important figure at the Turkish club, and accepting a €90 million offer would represent a substantial transfer.
With Arsenal having now reportedly placed the bid on the table and Osimhen said to be interested in making the move, attention will turn to Galatasaray’s response.
If the Turkish champions accept the proposal and personal terms are successfully agreed, Osimhen could be on course for a high-profile switch to the Premier League.
For now, talks are continuing, with Arsenal hopeful that their €90 million proposal can convince Galatasaray to release the Nigerian international.
