Leone Stars Head Coach ๐๐ข๐๐ข๐๐ซ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐๐ณ ๐๐ ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐ has officially commenced training with a group of technically selected home-based players as Sierra Leone stepped up preparations for the ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฉ ๐จ๐ ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ (๐๐ ๐๐๐) ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐๐ข๐๐ซ๐ฌ.
The training session, held at the SLFA Academy, forms part of preparations for Sierra Leoneโs opening qualifying fixtures in September against ๐๐ข๐ฆ๐๐๐๐ฐ๐ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ช๐ฎ๐๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ฅ ๐๐ฎ๐ข๐ง๐๐. The home-based camp provides the Head Coach with an opportunity to assess the players as he works towards selecting the final squad for the qualifiers.
The session was witnessed by ๐๐๐ ๐ ๐๐ข๐๐ ๐๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ข๐๐๐ง๐ญ ๐ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ก๐๐ข๐ซ๐ฆ๐๐ง ๐จ๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐๐๐ก๐ง๐ข๐๐๐ฅ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ข๐ญ๐ญ๐๐, ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ฐ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ข๐, who admonished the invited players to remain focused, disciplined and determined to earn a place in the final squad.
He stressed that the collective mission is to take Sierra Leone to the ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐, adding that this must be everyoneโs primary responsibility. He further emphasised that selection will be based purely on ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฉ๐๐ญ๐๐ง๐๐ ๐๐ง๐ ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐๐, and every player must earn his place in the team.
Speaking to the SLFA Media Team, Head Coach ๐๐ข๐๐ข๐๐ซ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐๐ณ ๐๐ ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐ expressed confidence in the group he has seen so far, highlighting the quality and potential within the squad while encouraging the players to remain committed and work hard throughout the camp.
With the September qualifiers approaching, preparations will continue as Coach Gomez Da Rosa assesses the home-based players and builds towards Sierra Leoneโs crucial AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign.
