Brighton Lower Carlos Baleba Asking Price as Manchester United and Newcastle Step Up Interest

Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly prepared to lower their asking price for highly rated midfielder Carlos Baleba, potentially opening the door for Manchester United to make a move for the Cameroon international.

Brighton had previously valued the 22 year old at around £100 million, but reports now suggest the Premier League club could consider offers in the region of £60 million to £65 million.

Manchester United have been monitoring Baleba for more than a year and remain keen on bringing the powerful midfielder to Old Trafford as they look to strengthen their squad.

Baleba has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most exciting young midfielders since joining Brighton, with his athleticism, ball carrying ability and defensive qualities making him an attractive option for clubs competing at the highest level.

However, United could face increased competition for his signature, with Newcastle United reportedly entering the race.

The Magpies’ interest could complicate Manchester United’s pursuit and potentially drive up competition for a player Brighton are now seemingly willing to sell for significantly less than their previous £100 million valuation.

Baleba has also expressed his excitement at the possibility of joining Manchester United, highlighting the club’s global appeal and historic status.

Asked about the prospect of moving to Old Trafford, Baleba said: “Very excited. Manchester United is a club you grow up watching. The history, the fans, Old Trafford… I don’t want to just join United. I want to become part of the next chapter.”

With United having tracked him for more than a year and Newcastle now joining the chase, Baleba’s future could become one of the major transfer stories of the summer.

Brighton’s willingness to consider a fee between £60 million and £65 million would represent a significant shift from their previous valuation and could encourage interested clubs to step up their pursuit of the Cameroon midfielder.
