Uganda’s KCCA FC to face AFC Leopards in friendly at Nyayo Stadium

Riding high on early season silverware, KCCA FC are traveling tonight to Kenya ahead of an international friendly match against Kenyan Premier League’s AFC Leopards on Saturday 22nd August 2026 at 4pm to be held at Nyayo National Stadium, Nairobi.

The Kasasiro Boys head into the fixture full of momentum after winning the 2026 FUFA Super 8 title, where they defeated NEC FC 1–0 at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, thanks to a decisive first half penalty by tournament MVP Saidi Mayanja.

Speaking ahead of the journey, KCCA FC head coach Brian Ssenyondo emphasized that the friendly serves as a test to fine tune tactics and build player stamina before the upcoming domestic campaign kicks off:

Winning the FUFA Super 8 gave us early momentum and confidence, but our focus must immediately shift to the longer road ahead. Facing a team of AFC Leopards’ stature in Nairobi presents the exact intensity and tactical test we need before the league starts. It is not just about results; it is about building match sharpness, testing our chemistry under pressure, and ensuring the boys are physically and mentally ready for the demanding season ahead.

For the hosts, Ingwe, the high profile friendly offers several crucial strategic advantages ahead of their FKF Premier League campaign.

AFC Leopards has had a busy recruitment window and this fixture saves a test for their squad which will be unveiled and presented to their fans on the day. AFC Leopards is home to former KCCA FC players Sam Ssenyonjo and Tom Ikara. Ugandan midfielder Taddeo Lwanga also features for the Kenyan side.

The match is set to provide top-tier regional competition and the perfect environment to gauge chemistry for both teams ahead of the 2026/27 season. Both regional powerhouses are using the fixture as a test to ensure they hit the ground running once their respective league campaigns commence.
