Zambia Under-17 Men’s National Team coach Chris Kaunda has summoned 40 players for camp as they build towards the 2026 Region 5 Cosafa tournament which will serve as an AFCON zonal qualifier.
The sieving is in its third phase having already conducted a selection process for prospective candidates in earlier camps that brought players from across the country in one place.
Kaunda and his technical bench will drill the 40 lads for a week before trimming the numbers further with other players still eligible from the 2025 Under-17 and 15 squads expected to be fused in at a later stage.
Preparations for this year’s Under-17 tournament are meant to ensure that Zambia makes a comeback to the AFCON after missing out on the last edition.
The team enters camp on Sunday in Lusaka and will wind up on Saturday. Zambia participated at its first ever FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar in November 2025 and reached the quarterfinals.
The Cosafa U17 Region 5 tournament will run from 4-13 December.
