Euromatch NPFL Matchday 2: Kano Pillars Edge Tornadoes, Plateau United Beat Kwara United

Kano Pillars produced a thrilling comeback victory over Niger Tornadoes, while Nasarawa United, Plateau United and Doma United secured important wins as Matchday 2 of the Euromatch Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) delivered exciting results across the country.

The second round of fixtures in the 2026/27 NPFL season served up goals, tight contests and dramatic finishes, with several clubs picking up crucial points in their early-season campaigns.

Kano Pillars 3-2 Niger Tornadoes

Kano Pillars claimed bragging rights in a five-goal thriller, defeating Niger Tornadoes 3-2.

Ubong Friday opened the scoring for Kano Pillars in the 40th minute before Fabian Nworie doubled the advantage deep into first-half stoppage time.

Nworie completed his brace in the 54th minute to put Pillars firmly in control at 3-0.

However, Niger Tornadoes refused to go down without a fight.

Godfrey Joseph pulled one back in the 73rd minute before Wasiu Jimoh reduced the deficit further with a 90th-minute strike.

Despite the late pressure, Kano Pillars held on to secure all three points.

Nasarawa United 1-0 Bendel Insurance

Nasarawa United recorded a narrow 1-0 victory over Bendel Insurance.

The decisive moment came in the 55th minute when Sam Pam found the back of the net to give the hosts the lead.

Bendel Insurance were unable to find an equaliser as Nasarawa United protected their advantage until the final whistle.

Kun Khalifat 0-0 Barau FC

There was nothing to separate Kun Khalifat and Barau FC, as both sides settled for a goalless draw.

The result means the two teams shared the points after a tightly contested encounter in which neither side could break the deadlock.

Plateau United 1-0 Kwara United

Plateau United secured a valuable 1-0 victory over Kwara United in the much-anticipated #PLAKWA clash.

Alex Aghahowa scored the only goal of the match in the 29th minute, giving Plateau United the lead.

Kwara United pushed for an equaliser but Plateau United stood firm to secure the maximum points.

Inter Lagos 0-1 Doma United

Doma United secured an important away victory, defeating Inter Lagos 1-0.

The visitors scored the only goal of the game in the 71st minute through Sadiq Rilwan, handing Doma United all three points.

Inter Lagos were unable to respond as Doma United held on for the win.

Sporting Lagos vs Ikorodu United postponed

The Lagos derby between Sporting Lagos and Ikorodu United has been moved to September 30 due to the unavailability of the venue.

The rescheduled fixture will give both sides another opportunity to battle for local bragging rights and valuable NPFL points.

Ranchers Bees vs Abia Warriors postponed

The meeting between Ranchers Bees and Abia Warriors has also been postponed.

The fixture was moved to tomorrow because of the unavailability of the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina.

The rescheduling means both clubs will have to wait a little longer to complete their Matchday 2 assignment.
