Guinea-Bissau stunned Nigeria with a commanding 3-0 victory in their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying encounter, handing the Super Eagles a disappointing result.
Franculino Djú opened the scoring in the 16th minute, capitalising on Guinea-Bissau’s strong start to put the hosts 1-0 ahead.
Nigeria struggled to find a response as Guinea-Bissau continued to threaten the Super Eagles’ defence.
Guinea-Bissau then doubled their advantage with another impressive finish from Baldé, leaving Nigeria with a mountain to climb in the closing stages.
The hosts completed the rout deep into stoppage time when Djalo scored in the 90+5th minute to make it 3-0 and seal a memorable victory for Guinea-Bissau.
The result represents a major setback for Nigeria in their AFCON 2027 qualification campaign, while Guinea-Bissau strengthened their position in the race for qualification.
