Juventus consider Didier Deschamps as Spalletti’s successor

Didier Deschamps could soon return to club management, with Juventus reportedly considering an approach for the former France coach. According to Italian media outlets, including La Stampa and La Repubblica, the Turin club has placed the Frenchman on its shortlist as pressure mounts on current manager Luciano Spalletti.

Juventus have struggled in Serie A and sit eighth after nine matchdays, following a 2-0 defeat to Genoa. Consequently, the club’s management could consider a change in the dugout in the coming days. Besides Deschamps, Juventus are reportedly weighing up Stefano Pioli and Antonio Conte as possible replacements. A defeat against Napoli this weekend could further weaken Spalletti’s position and accelerate the club’s search for a new manager.

Deschamps remains a respected figure in Turin, where he played between 1994 and 1999, winning the Champions League in 1996 and three Serie A titles. His managerial record also includes France’s 2018 World Cup triumph and the 2021 Nations League title, alongside appearances in the 2022 World Cup and Euro 2016 finals. These achievements could strengthen his appeal to Juventus, although the club has yet to confirm a formal offer. A return to Italy would mark a new chapter in the career of the coach who led France for 14 years.
