Renowned football commentator Peter Drury has hailed Ghana’s disciplined performance against England, insisting the Black Stars have what it takes to reach the knockout stages if they maintain the same level of organisation and unity.
Speaking about Ghana’s campaign, Drury praised the tactical discipline displayed by Carlos Queiroz’s men in their goalless draw against England, highlighting how effectively they neutralised one of the tournament’s most dangerous attacking sides.
“Ghana played really well against England. They had a good defensive plan, and it worked very well against what had been a really fluid England team,” Drury said.
The veteran commentator believes Ghana’s defensive resilience could prove to be the foundation of a successful World Cup run, provided the team continues to play with the same collective spirit.
“If Ghana can remain as robust, united, and coherent as they were against England, they will be in a very good position to progress,” he added.
Drury’s remarks echo the growing admiration for the Black Stars’ tactical maturity at the tournament. While Ghana adopted a compact defensive approach against England, they remained a threat on the counterattack and frustrated one of the competition’s favourites throughout the contest.
With a decisive Group L clash against Croatia looming, the Black Stars know another disciplined display could be enough to book their place in the knockout rounds and continue their impressive World Cup campaign.
