2026 FIFA World Cup: Rudi Garcia defends De Bruyne

Rudi Garcia, Belgium’s head coach, strongly disagrees with the way the Belgian press is treating Kevin De Bruyne.

At a press conference ahead of Wednesday’s match against Senegal, he said it’s a scandal to suggest that his midfield is worn out.

“It’s outrageous to write that Kevin De Bruyne is burned out. Germany and the Netherlands are already out of the tournament; being the favorite means nothing. Senegal is a very fast, very strong, technically skilled, and well-organized team.”

The match against Senegal, which will take place in a few hours as part of the Round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup, is an opportunity for the former City player to prove the public wrong.
