Black Stars centre-back Jerome Opoku has broken his silence following Ghana’s elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, expressing pride in the team’s campaign while thanking supporters and head coach Carlos for their unwavering belief.
In a heartfelt message shared on his X account, Opoku acknowledged the disappointment of seeing Ghana’s World Cup journey come to an end but insisted there were positives to take from the team’s performance.
“Our World Cup journey has come to an end. The dream is over for now, but we can be proud of the run we had and the belief we reignited,” he wrote.
The defender also paid tribute to Ghanaian fans, thanking them for the passionate support they showed the Black Stars throughout the tournament.
“Thank you for your incredible love and support throughout this journey,” he added, accompanied by the Ghana flag.
Opoku reserved special appreciation for head coach Carlos, crediting him for placing his faith in him at a time when others had doubted his abilities.
“A special thank you to Coach Carlos for believing in me when many didn’t – God’s Plan,” he concluded.
