The city of Port Harcourt is set to come alive with top-flight women’s football action as it prepares to host the 2026 Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL Premiership Super Six Finals from June 5 to June 14.

The prestigious season-ending tournament will bring together six of the best teams in the country to battle for the league title in what is expected to be a thrilling round-robin contest.

Defending champions Bayelsa Queens will return to defend their crown after an impressive campaign last season.

They will face stiff competition from former champions Edo Queens and hosts Rivers Angels, who will be hoping to make home advantage count in front of their supporters.

Also qualified for the Super Six are Robo Queens, one of the most experienced sides in Nigerian women’s football, alongside Nasarawa Amazons, a club known for its consistency and strong performances over the years.

Making their first-ever appearance at the Super Six are Abia Angels, whose qualification has been described as one of the major highlights of the season.

The debutants will be aiming to make a strong statement against some of the country’s biggest women’s football clubs.

The Super Six format will see each team play against one another, with the side accumulating the highest number of points at the end of the competition emerging champions of the 2026 NWFL Premiership season.

Football fans across the country are expected to troop into Port Harcourt for the tournament, which is anticipated to showcase the growing quality and competitiveness of women’s football in Nigeria.

The competition will also provide a platform for talented players to attract national team attention and possible opportunities abroad.
