3SC Disqualified From NPFL Super 6 Over Academy Players Submission

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) have been disqualified from the 2026 NPFL Super 6 tournament after the Oluyole Warriors submitted the names of academy players alongside members of their first-team squad for the competition.

The decision was taken by the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) board following a review of the club’s submitted squad list ahead of the tournament.

According to the ruling, the inclusion of academy players in the squad breached the competition’s eligibility requirements, leading to 3SC’s removal from the Super 6.

The development means the Ibadan-based club will no longer participate in the tournament, despite having secured their place among the teams expected to compete for the pre-season honours.

In a swift replacement, Katsina United have been drafted into the Super 6 to take the place of the disqualified Shooting Stars.

The change adds a fresh twist to the tournament, with Katsina United now set to join the other invited teams as preparations intensify ahead of the new NPFL season.

The NPFL Super 6 is designed to provide top-flight clubs with competitive preparation ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, which is scheduled to commence on August 28, 2026.

3SC’s disqualification is expected to generate further discussion around squad registration and player eligibility ahead of the new season, while Katsina United will now have the opportunity to use the tournament as part of their preparations for the campaign.
