Ajax have reached an agreement with Moroccan international midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, who has signed a contract with the Amsterdam club until June 30, 2028.
The defensive midfielder’s deal takes immediate effect, marking his return to the Netherlands and adding considerable experience to Ajax’s midfield ahead of the new campaign.
Ajax sporting director Jordi Cruijff expressed his delight at completing the signing, highlighting Amrabat’s physical strength, technical ability and international pedigree.
“We are delighted to have secured Sofyan’s signature. He is physically strong, technically gifted and brings a wealth of international experience,” Cruijff said.
The club also believes Amrabat’s familiarity with Dutch football will help him adapt quickly to life at Ajax.
“He also knows the Dutch league, which means we expect him to settle in quickly. In Sofyan, we have signed exactly the type of player we were looking for,” Cruijff added.
Amrabat, who previously established himself in the Eredivisie before moving abroad, brings both defensive solidity and experience at the highest level of international football. His arrival is expected to strengthen Ajax’s options in the heart of midfield as the club targets success domestically and in European competition.
