Coventry City forward Brandon Thomas-Asante has been omitted from Carlos Queiroz’s latest Black Stars squad for Ghana’s upcoming international fixtures.
Thomas-Asante was part of Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad and featured during the tournament, including as a second-half substitute in the Black Stars’ opening group-stage victory over Panama.
However, the 27-year-old has not been included in Queiroz’s 24-man selection for the September-October international window as the Portuguese coach reshapes his attacking options.
Ghana’s forward line for the upcoming assignments includes Christopher Bonsu Baah, Ernest Nuamah, Mohammed Kudus, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Antoine Semenyo, Ibrahim Osman, Prince Adu Kwabena and Jordan Ayew.
Thomas-Asante’s omission comes after he featured for Coventry City in their recent Premier League campaign. He came off the bench during Coventry’s 5-0 defeat to Brighton earlier this month.
The Black Stars will begin their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign against Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké on September 24, before hosting The Gambia in Accra on September 29.
Queiroz’s side will then travel to Tangier for an international friendly against Morocco on October 4.
Thomas-Asante’s exclusion means he will not be part of Ghana’s squad for the three international matches.
