CAF Sets June 30 Deadline for Clubs Seeking Interclub Competition Licenses

CAF Sets June 30 Deadline for Clubs Seeking Interclub Competition Licenses

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially informed all Member Associations that June 30 is the final deadline for clubs to secure licenses for participation in next season’s CAF interclub competitions.

Clubs hoping to compete in the prestigious CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup must satisfy a series of mandatory requirements under CAF’s club licensing regulations.

According to the directive, participating clubs are expected to meet standards in five key areas:

  • Sporting
  • Infrastructure
  • Administrative
  • Legal
  • Financial

The licensing system is designed to ensure professionalism, improve club management structures, and raise the overall standard of African club football.

CAF has also reiterated strict coaching qualification requirements ahead of the new campaign. The continental governing body confirmed that all head coaches and assistant coaches involved in the competitions must possess either a CAF A Licence or a CAF Pro Licence issued by a recognized football association.

The move forms part of CAF’s continued efforts to strengthen technical development and ensure clubs competing at continental level are managed by properly certified professionals.

The announcement places additional pressure on clubs across the continent to complete administrative and technical preparations before the June 30 deadline, particularly for teams still finalizing their qualification for next season’s competitions through domestic leagues and cup tournaments.

Failure to comply with the licensing regulations could result in clubs being denied entry into CAF’s elite interclub tournaments, regardless of their sporting qualification.
