Dormon Eyes First FA Cup Crown as Dreams FC Prepare for Nations FC Showdown

Dreams FC head coach Winfred Dormon has set his sights on winning his first MTN FA Cup title as a head coach ahead of Sunday’s high-stakes final against Nations FC at the University of Ghana Stadium.

Dormon, who previously celebrated FA Cup success with Dreams FC as an assistant coach, believes lifting the trophy this time in charge of the club would carry even greater significance.

“We won the FA Cup at Abrankese, and it was a very intriguing experience,” Dormon said. “The dynamics are very different now, but I would be incredibly happy to lead this group to win the competition.”

The Dreams FC tactician was part of the technical setup when the Still Believe lads lifted the trophy in 2023 after defeating King Faisal in the final at Abrankese. Interestingly, that final was played at the home grounds of Nations FC — the very side Dreams are set to face this weekend.

There is another striking coincidence surrounding this year’s final. The last time Dreams FC won the FA Cup, they defeated a King Faisal side that had just been relegated from the Ghana Premier League. Nations FC, their opponents this year, also head into the final having suffered relegation at the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

The final at the University of Ghana Stadium is expected to be fiercely contested, with more than just silverware at stake. The winner will secure Ghana’s slot in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup, adding continental significance to the domestic showdown.

For Dormon, the occasion represents both a personal milestone and an opportunity to guide Dreams FC back onto the African stage after their memorable Confederation Cup campaign two seasons ago.

While Nations FC will be desperate to end a disappointing season on a high note, Dreams FC will hope history repeats itself as they chase another famous FA Cup triumph.
